Premature Baby Elephant Who Was Abandoned By His Herd Is Making Great Progress

Almost 2 years ago the DSWT was called to rescue a tiny elephant by helicopter from a remote mountain range in Kenya’s Northern Frontier District. When he arrived at Nairobi Nursery he was barely 40kg and undoubtedly born prematurely. No make matters worse, he was fed cow’s milk which is deadly to elephants and his condition was very unstable. It was very unlikely he will be able to survive, but thanks to the local community and the intense care at the nursery he became a real “miracle”. Now he is 21 months and thriving!!
